End of the Semester

Members of Films From The Margin:

I hope all is well. Our last screening of the semester did not turn out well, and this got me thinking about improving ourselves professionally. Few came to show support to graduating senior Paul Igaz, with his feature length video. We had no regular members for the event, and those who came felt odd to nominate and vote on myself for presidency for next year. So we did not have elections, and nothing, not even a film is decided to start the semester off in the fall. Paul Igaz ended up screening one of his short videos, and then the feature length video did not work in the dvd player. So the semester ended awkwardly.

Things to work out for next semester...

As President as of now, there are somethings I need to improve upon for this group to function properly as a democratic film screening organization. I hope to emphasize that with a larger membership for fall 2009. We will still have to work out what to do about elections for positions. For next year as of thus far, we have Kallie doing Promotions, and I as President. If this is how it stays we will need at least two others to work out collections and special events.

I am writing to you all, because whether or not I maintain presidency for next semester(needing to be determined by an election tba), I would like sometime early next semester to meet with everyone to discuss what could be improved, brought to, and help make Films From The Margin a viable Film Screening Organization.

I personally would like to switch fully to screening 16mm, however I understand that might not be in our best interest as an organization. I would like to here others thoughts on how to make Films From The Margin a unique and innovative group that brings something forth to the Emerson Community at large.

Sincerely,

Kyle S. Glowacky
